Services for Mrs. Orgia Lee Smith Stewart James, 71, of Tullahassee, were held Saturday at 1 p.m. in Carter G. Woodson High School gymnasium with the Rev. J. L. Strawther officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery with Granger Funeral Home of Muskogee in charge. Pallbearers were George H. Smith, L. C. Youngblood, Willie Garrett, Arnold Jones, Claron Jones and Elbert Alexander.
Born May 6, 1914, Mrs. James died November 16, 1985, in Muskogee Regional Medical Center. She attended school at Mark Hannah, now Carter G. Woodson, and Flipper Davis College, an extension of Langston University.
Mrs. James was a member of the Tullahassee First Baptist Church and served in the choir as director, Sunday school teacher and church clerk. She also served as secretary of the county commissioner, co-chair of Tullahassee Community and secretary. She was election board inspector for more than 30 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Collotta Graham, of Muskogee; and a sister, Bertha Harlin of Denver, Colorado.
