My grandmother never got to meet me. But I have heard so many good things about her over the years through the family and my mother. I am told she was a beautiful hand to writing letters, as my oldest brother found out when he was 3 and he got mad at her for not jumping to his demand and hocked a big spit wad on her letter (letters were wrote with pen and ink)and since the letter was wet and drying well lets say he never did that again. I am told she was a great cook and could cook just about anything. I know she could quilt as I have several of her pieces and they have lasted many years. I have a picture of her standing next to some very tall hollyhocks. These are not the easiest flowers to grow but she could grow hers very tall. I was told the secret is old dish water throw out the door where they were planted. lol. My oldest sister has fond memories of playing in them and pretending they were a jungle, thats pretty tall flowers huh. Everyone seems to remember her hands and how kind and gentle they could be but the boys remember how rough they could be too. I believe she was the picture of a pioneer woman and tough on the outside and gentle on the inside. After all she did live to be 77 and birth 8 children. She too is spoken of in missed sadness.
