Sarah Daniel was born in Pennsylvania in 1809, the daughter of George Daniel and his wife Anna. While Sarah was only a year or two old, the family moved to Bloom Township, Fairfield County, Ohio. Here her father died when Sarah was eight years old. A few years thereafter she accompanied her mother to Seneca County, Ohio where her older sister Cynthia and her husband Thomas J. Elder were living.
Sarah married Charles Hill circa 1829 in Seneca County. In the summer of 1839 Sarah and Charles with their four children--George T., Henry, John Milton and Stephen--moved to Clay Township, Kosciusko County, Indiana along with Charles' father and siblings and their families. In Kosciusko County Sarah and Charles had eight more children--Catharine A., Amanda, Thomas J., Malinda, Charles, Synthia, William Wilson and Leah I.
Sarah died in February 1856 three weeks after the birth of Leah who only lived 15 days. Sarah was buried in the Hill family cemetery among the graves of Charles' parents and other family members.
