William Benjamin Wiley ("Ben") was born in Haynesville, Louisiana, on September 10, 1875, to Thomas Thurman Wiley (b. 1848 in Macon County, Alabama) and Josephine Cooper (b. 1849 in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana).
Ben married Nina Vance Sugg (b. September 23, 1886) of Minden in 1902. Three children were born of this union - Nina Vance Sugg (b. May 15, 1904), William Benjamin Wiley, Jr. (b. Nov. 29, 1907), and Clarence Douglas Wiley (b. July 22, 1909).
Ben died on January 19, 1938, from injuries suffered in a fire at his jewelry store in downtown Minden.
