He was born and reared in Williamsport district, son of James A and Annie (Halback) Barnes.
For several years, he taught in the schools of Williamsport, and for 18 years, was a draftsman for Frick Co, Waynesboro, Pa. Later, being a draftsman for the Pargborn Corp.
He was a member of Williamsport Zion Lutheran Church and Sunday School.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Rev John Luther Barnes, pastor of the Lutheran Church at Altoona, Pa.; one granddaughter; brother, Edward L, York, Pa; sisters, Mrs. Ida Mummert, Chambersburg; and Mrs. Mary Needy, Huyetts.
Services Monday at 2 pm at the home with the Rev William C Huddle officiating; interment in Riverview Cemetery, Williamsport.
