Obituary: Mrs. Carrie Jensen Swanson - The community was greatly shocked by the sudden death of Mrs. Peter Swanson which occurred Sunday morning at four o'clock, Feb. 2nd. Carrie Jensen was born in Ortnveik, Sogn, Norway, September 18, 1868 (actual birth year is 1865). She spent the early part of her life in Norway coming to America in 1893. In 1896 she was married to Peter Swanson. This union was blessed with eight children, six of whom survive her.
Since her marriage she has lived on a farm east of Benzonia. She leaves to mourn their loss besides her husband and six children, three sisters and a brother, Mrs. Anna Evrous and Mrs. Magnhild Ness, both of Norway; Mrs. Andrew Olsen and Andrew Jensen of Benzonia, besides a host of friends who are with them in their sad bereavement. She was a kind and loving wife and mother, always so thoughtful of her family and friends, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon with Rev. J.C. Johnson of Frankfort officiating. Her remains were laid to rest in the Benzonia cemetery.
