Obituary.
WILLIAM SKANK
William H. Skank, on of the older residents of this village, died at his home on Hickory Street Monday night, August 6th, at midnight. He had been gradually failing in health for the past three years and for the past six weeks had been confined to his bed.
Mr. Skank was born in Bennington, N.Y., in 1831. He came to Michigan with his parents when about 12 years of age and except for a short time has since lived in Milford and Brighton Townships.
In 1859 he was married in Commerce to Miss Elmina Leet, who with two children, Albert of Clarkston and Mrs. Wm. Cooley of Milford, survive him. A son, Frank, died in childhood.
In 1862, Mr. Skank enlisted in Co. C, 9th Michigan Cavalry and served throughout the war. His death removes another of the veterans of Heber Le Favour Post No. 181.
The funeral service was held at the residence this Friday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. C. W. Butler officiating. The burial at Oak Grove was in charge of the G.A.R.
