Abraham settled in Ovid sometime around the early 1860s.
He was married about 1856 to Charlotte Sawtell.
The Sawtell family were settled in and around the Lapeer area.

Abraham then married Martha Goff.
Children: Clifton B. Abt. 1864
George H. 1866-1939 Spouse Nellie 1872-1964
Nellie 1869-1957 Spouse Henry Persons Cobb 1863-
Pearl Sue 1879-1959 spouse Edwin D. Letts

They had three children that died near the end of 1860s.

While in Ovid, Abraham was in partner in the local grain mill.
They later moved to Elsie and owned the mill along the river west of Elsie. The mill overlooked the river and the cemetery.
