Marvis Bond, age 69, passed away Monday, Dec. 27, 1999 in Provo, Utah.
Born January 26, 1930 in Heber City, the son of William Joseph and Hazel Thomas Bond. He grew up in the Heber Valley and Duchesne areas graduating from Wasatch High School.
On August 20, 1952 he married his high school sweetheart, Joan Rasband, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Marvis served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Lions Club.
He loved to travel. An active member of the LDS Church serving in many capacities, including a mission to the Canada British-Columbia Mission. He thoroughly enjoyed being a home teacher. Along with his career at Geneva Steel he also owned and operated a dairy farm. He was a hard worker and a good provider. He had a genuine love for his family, and especially treasured his grandchildren.
Preceding in death are his parents; step-mother, LaVeda; brother, Alan; sister, Merla Wilson; daughter, Elaine Koyle; granddaughter, Janae Nielson; son-in-law, Jesse Moon.
Survivors include his wife, Joan, of 47 years; seven children; daughter, Linda Moon; son Wayne (Sherry) Bond; son, Joseph (Kristy) Bond; daughter, Susan (David) Nielson all of Heber City; Joylene (Kenneth) Ritchie of Tremonton; son Kenneth Bond of Orem; and son, Michael (Sherlyn) Bond of Lehi; 26 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; twin sister, Mardene (Eldon) Harker of Idaho Falls, ID.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 31, 1999, 11 a.m. in the Heber 6th Ward LDS Chapel, 325 East 500 North, Heber City. Friends may call Thursday, December 30 from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home, 288 North Main Street, Heber City, and on Friday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the LDS Church. Interment will follow in the Heber City Cemetery, Heber City, Utah.
