She was born March 5, 1925 in Heber, Utah to W. J., and Hazel Thomas Bond.
She married Vern Wilson November 26, 1952 in the Logan LDS Temple.
Merla graduated from Duchesne High School, one year early, at the head of her class. She went off to attend BYU where she graduated with a B.S. in Business Education.
Merla taught Business at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho for six years. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in a number of positions including Relief Society President, temple callings, and Stake Primary Secretary.
Merla actively supported her husband and sons as accountant and business manager in the family sheep business. She will be remembered for her gentle persuasion for those who needed encouragement, and for the love and support of her family.
She is survived by: her husband, Vern; three sons, Hugh (Diane) Wilson of Payson; Jay Wilson of Denver; Don (Nicole) Wilson of Salem; eight grandchildren; a sister, Mardene (Eldon) Harker of Idaho Falls; and a brother, Marvis (Joan) Bond, of Heber.
She was proceeded in death by her daughter, Marie Wilson, and a brother, Alan Bond.
Services will be held on Monday, November 16, 1998, 11 a.m., in the Mountain View First LDS ward, 75 South 600 East, Payson. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Utah from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, or at the church Monday 10-10:45 am. Burial will be in the Midway Cemetery at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Primary Childrens Medical Center.
