John H. Ellis was born in Leaf Valley Township, Douglas County, Minnesota, on March 14, 1910, the son of Albert and Ida Ellis. He grew to manhood in the Leaf Valley area and moved to Alexandria where he was employed by Alexandria Light and Power. John was united in marriage to Maude Nelson. They were faithful members of the United Methodist church and John was a member of the National Guard. He also enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
John died September 13, 1986, at the Knute Nelson Memorial Home at the age of 76 years. He is survived by wife: Maude Ellis of Alexandria; son: Daniel and wife Jean Nelson of Bloomington.
Funeral services were September 16, 1986 at the United Methodist Church, Alexandria, Minnesota, with Rev. David McBride and Rev. Carl Mahl officiating. Entombment was in Kinkead Cemetery Mausoleum, Alexandria, Minnesota. Pallbearers were Delmore Gustafson, Warren Engelbrecht, Pete Barthelemy, Joseph Garrett, William Becker and Gary Ellis. Arrangements with Anderson Funeral Home.
