Vaneta Nora (Engelbrecht) Goodridge was born on July 26, 1916, in Alexandria, Minnesota the daughter of Walter and Marie (Reichman) Engelbrecht. She attended school in Alexandria.

Vaneta was a homemaker and worked at the Alexandria Clinic as a receptionist and later at a Hallmark card store. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ and a charter member of the "Sewing Club". Vaneta lived in Colorado, California and returned to Alexandria, Minnesota in 1990, where she has since resided.

Vaneta was a talented artist, craftsperson and avid gardener. She was known for how she strived for perfection in everything she did.

Vaneta died on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Knute Nelson in Alexandria at the age of 93.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Brown of Rohnert Park, CA; granddaughter, Tonya (Rick) Parsons of Willowbrook, Canada; great-grandchildren, Cheleste and Jessie Parsons; sister-in-law, Mayme Engelbrecht of Alexandria; nieces and nephews, Jerry (Verla) Engelbrecht, Warren (Norma) Engelbrecht, Phyllis (Jerry) Hustad, Jeanne (Rick) Rosenfield, Malanie (Lonie) Reaney, and Brad (Susan) Herbeck.

Vaneta is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Marie; son, Loren Ellis; husbands, John Ellis, Bob Karle, and Gordon Goodridge; brothers, Ralph Engelbrecht and Art Engelbrecht; sisters, Malanie Herbeck and Pauline Ginter.

A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria with Reverend Scott Keehn officiating. Music was provided by Kim Byrne. Interment was in Kinkead Cemetery. Honorary casket bearers were Vaneta's nieces and nephews, Malanie (Lonie) Reaney, Jeanne Rosenfield, Phyllis Hustad, Connie Dawson, Warren Engelbrecht, and Jerry Engelbrecht.

Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria, Minnesota.
