Funeral services were held January 24, at Faith Lutheran Church in Miltona. Pastor Ken Thiele officiated. Burial was in Kinkead Cemetery, Alexandria with Ernie Salvog, Stu Olson, Steve Olsen, Rodney Wunderlich, Donald Modeen, and Mylo Arvidson as casket bearers.
Born in Belle River Township, Douglas County on March 11, 1899, John was the son of Nick and Mary (Geris) Beheng. John spent his lifetime in the area and used horse and buggy and sleigh in his early years to drive Dr. Love on many house calls. On January 22, 1921, he married Olga Arvidson at the St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Belle River. After their marriage they made their home and farmed in the Ida and Spruce Hill Townships of Douglas County. They retired to Miltona in 1963. John served on the Miltona Creamery Board as well as the Miltona Co-op Board.
Preceded in death by his parents, a brother and his wife, Olga, on July 6, 1991, John is survived by his daughter, Lorayne (Mrs. Ray) Ahlbrecht of Carlos, two sons, Darrel and Merlin, both of Miltona, ten grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren along with a great great granddaughter. Two sisters, Delores Johnson of Fergus Falls and Anna Hinz of Los Angeles, California also survive him.
