At the age of 16, Darrel began his career as a truck driver. His first haul was a load of cattle to South St. Paul. He then started Beheng Brothers Trucking with his brother Merl. Darrel hauled a variety of items such as grain and freight throughout the Midwest through the years. He went on to teach his son, Chad, the trucking business.
Darrel had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing cards, and listening to old time music.
Darrel J. Beheng, died on Saturday September 18, 2021, at his home, at the age of 88 years old. He is survived by his children, Carol (Jeff) Cordes of Alexandria, Karen (Steve) Olsen of Alexandria, Terri (Dean) Bowman of Parker's Prairie, Tammy (Greg) Stephan of Vining, and Chad (Brenda Larson) Beheng of Miltona, special friend, Penny Young of Parker's Prairie; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Evangeline Beheng, sister Lorayne Ahlbrecht, and brother Merlin Beheng.
A celebration of Darrel's life will take place on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at Herby's Bar and Grill Cafe, Carlos, MN from 1-3 p.m. A private family graveside service will be held at Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria on Monday.
