Fowler California Honored Pioneers in 1965. The Wysinger family lived in the Fowler, California community since 1896, for 115 year, starting with Reuben and the last Wysinger to move out of the area was his great-granddaughter Valerie Wysinger in 2010.

The Fresno Bee Newspaper, Thursday, November 5, 1964:

FOWLER: The Fowler Lions Club has named Vossa E. Wysinger ..... the honored Pioneer of the 32nd annual Fowler Fall Festival.
.....
Wysinger was born in Fowler in 1895 in a home where the Community Hospital now stands. His father, the late Ruben Wysinger, was an early day resident, his family have moved to Visalia during the days of the gold rush.

As a boy, Vossa helped his grandfather plant the eucalyptus trees in Fowler, many of which still stand.

In 1900 his family bought the home place on American Avenue, which he still owns, and he helped with the planting of peaches and muscat grapes.

Upon completion of his education he went to the bay area where he worked in the shipyards.

On his grandparents' golden wedding anniversary on December 26, 1917 he married the former Kathlyn Boatman. Their daughter, now Mrs. Venette Oliver, was born in the Bay area. In 1922 they purchased their present ranch home [East Clayton Avenue], where their sons, Vossa, Jr. and Virgil were born.

Wysinger has seen much change and progress, from horse and plow to tractor and the jet age. He also remembers the introduction of the Thompson raisins variety grape and another major crop, cotton. Vossa says our freeways are the most interesting development. He recalls when the road to Fresno was dirt, sprinkled every morning to keep down the dust.

Mr. Wysinger was a faithful member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Fresno, California
