Born:1791 in North Carolina/Son of JOHN MONTGOMERY, SR.
He had four known brothers, Robert, William, Jesse, and Jefferson, and a sister, Easter Ann, who married George Washington Jones. These five brothers and the Jones family were in TN 1810-1820 and Missouri 1830-1840.
1848 Married 2nd wife: Nancy Ellen Morris
1854 After an attempt to travel to Gold Mines in Calif; John,Jr. turned for home in Missouri; bring his family to Parker County Texas.
1860 Texas Census:John Jr. farmed, owning land near Springtown and the Wise Co. line.
Met his death at the hands of Comanche Indians. The Indians had stolen horses from the John Montgomery farm, and in pursuit he was shot through the heart; falling dead. The Indians even stole the horse he was riding. His 3 sons tracked the Indians down; recovering the stolen property.
