Arthur Coleman DeWitt, 64, son of Mr. and Mrs. John DeWitt was born at Hartshorn, Mo., June 17, 1886, and died at his home near Raymondville on November 6, 1950.
He was united in marriage to Alice Mae Prince, on March 4, 1904, and to this union there were fourteen children. His wife and four children preceded him in death -- two sons, Elmer and Orville; two daughters, Cora and Dora.
He was converted and united with the Pilgrim Holiness Church several years ago, and remained faithful to his church. He had resided in the Raymondville community for a number of years.
Survivors include eight sons and two daughters -- Marvin, Murphysboro, Ill; Chloe, Hartshorn, Mo.; Melvin, Raymondville; Hershel, Pekin, Ill.; Merle, Fort Knox, Kentucky; Ethel, of the home; Mrs. Ruth Lee, St. Louis; Paul and Raymond, St. Louis; one brother, Ernest DeWitt, Elk Creek; four sisters, Cassie Courtney, Raymondville; Zella Henry, Eldon, Mo.; Opal Jones, Yakima, Washington; Osa Evland, who lives in Oregon; 41 grandchildren; one great-grandson; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at Hartshorn Church conducted by Mrs. Ray Miles. Interment was made in the Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Elliott Funeral Home.
