Funeral services for John Gray Carpenter, 67, retired farmer, were held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Pulaski Funeral Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Mack Pinkelton, Baptist minister, with the burial in Lynnwood Cemetery.
He died at 4:40 o'clock Saturday morning, July 7, at his home in the Tarpley section.
Born December 27, 1894, in Giles County, he was the son of the late Henry Carpenter and Emma C. Hendrix Carpenter.
Mr. Carpenter is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mae Burchell Carpenter; one son, Clyde Allen Carpenter, Lafayette; two daughters, Miss Edna Mae Carpenter, Pulaski, and Mrs. Allen Woodard, Lynnville; fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one brother, Elmer Carpenter, Pulaski; and three sisters, Mrs. Anna Murphy and Miss Grace Carpenter, Pulaski, and Mrs. Etta Bitticks, Tanner, Ala.
