Nottawa Twp. Man Is To Be Laid To Rest Tuesday
Frederick C. Michaels, 67, retired farmer and a resident of St. Jospeh County his entire life, died Saturday night at about eight o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Otis Gage, 414 Sturgis Avenue.
He had been in declining health for the past two years and had been bedfast for two weeks. Mr. Michaels had retired from farming eight years ago.
He was born in Sherman Township June 24, 1870, son of Ernest and Lena Koch Michaels. He lived in Sherman Township five years, and then resided on the same farm in Nottawa Township for 62 years. Since last October he had made his home in Sturgis. Mr. Michales was married Jan. 13, 1892, to Wilhelmina Kasdorf at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Kasdorf, in Sherman Township. He devoted his entire life to agriculture. Baptized in 1870, he was confirmed in in 1884 in the Lutheran Church. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Sherman Township since it was erected.
Surviving are the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Otis Gage, Sturgis; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Timm, Mintdale; a grandson, Donald Gage of this city; two cousins, Mrs. Minnie Greewaldt, Burr Oak, and Mrs. Ida Kuhn, Chicago; and by a number of nieces and nephews. Five sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.
A prayer service will be conducted at the Foglesond Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon at 1:45 o'clock, followed by rites in the Salem Lutheran Church at 2:30, with Rev. Willaim T. Schalm officiating. Burial will be make in the Sherman.................
