Odin Castleberry's name has been written and pronounced many ways, Odian, Odin, Odom, etc. It was probably Odin, as it was a popular baby's name in Germany around the time that Odin was born.

Odin Castleberry's parents were William Castleberry, Jr. and Elizabeth Claiborne. He was married to Margaret Tallant.

Odin was a member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church in Hall County, Georgia from which he was dismissed 17 Oct 1818 when he moved to Forsyth County, Georgia. There he became one of 13 founding members of the Bethlehem Baptist Church.

"Members of the Castleberry family were buried on a small knoll near the intersection of Bethelview and Castleberry Roads. Small bronze plated markers have been placed at the grave sites of Odin and Margaret Castleberry's graves by family members. Odin was born January 18, 1775, possibly in North Carolina. He died in 1844 and his grave is the large stacked stone grave which presently has a dogwood tree growing through it. Margaret's grave is next to Odin's grave. Her birth date is circa 1777. Odin and Margaret had nine children. The Castleberry's were very early settlers in Forsyth County." From The Bridge, Newsletter of the Historical Society of Forsyth County, March 2008, Volume 14, Issue 3.

Their nine children were: 1. Mark Castleberry, 2. David Castleberry, 3. Sarah Castleberry, 4. William Madison Castleberry, Sr., 5. Lucy Castleberry, 6. John Castleberry, 7. Odin Castleberry, Jr., 8. Benjamin Wesley Castleberry, and 9. Timothy Castleberry.

Many of the descendants of Odin and Margaret Tallant Castleberry still live in the Forsyth County, Georgia area today.
