2008 Dec 4 - Davison - John Robert Yager was born Friday 4 Feb 1927 in Flint to Charles Henry & Florence Catherine (Hill, Teeple) Yager. He married the love of his life, Alice L Prevost Saturday 17 Mar 1945 in Flint to whom he had been married to for 63 1/2 years before his death. She was his guardian angel through his battle for life. He lived for his family and loved playing the marble game, going to the casino and his Friday night poker games with his family. He was a member of St Pius X Catholic Church, a member of UAW Local 599, a member of the 0342 American Legion and VFW Post 3087. He retired from General Motors Buick Motor Division after 43 1/2 years of service. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa and friend.

John Robert 'Jack' Yager Sr of Flint Twp died Thursday 4 Dec 2008 at the age of 81 y 10 m 0 d at Brian's House of Davison after a courageous battle with lung disease. Survivors included his wife, Alice; 2 sons, John & Christine Yager Jr, and Thomas & Nancy Yager; 2 daughters, Linda & Daniel Bearbower, and Diana & Stephen Burnison; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and baby Yager, to be born in May. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles 02 Apr 1973 & Florence 13 Jan 1969; 2 sisters, Violet M Hill 06 Mar 1975 and Betty June Wells 15 Aug 1972; 4 half-sisters, Bertha Elnora Yager 19 May 1917, Grace May Brownrigg 6 Jan 1970, Charlotte E 'Lottie' Ijames 15 Apr 2005, and Christine Elamond 'Ella' Gearhart 19 Oct 1995; 3 half-brothers, Charles George Yager 20 Apr 1969, Harold Clifford Yager 29 Sep 1943 and Howard Milton Teeple Sr 05 Jul 1974.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 1 pm Monday 08 Dec 2008 at St Pius X Catholic Church at G-3139 Hogarth Ave in Flint with Father Robert F Copeland officiating.

Burial was in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions were to be directed to Brian's House of Davison at 1515 Cal Drive in Davison, MI, in lieu of flowers.
