Nellie L. Dewey Dies in Idaho
Funeral services for Nellie Lorena Dewey, 85, former Star Valley resident, who died Feb 26, 1972 at an Emmett Idaho hospital, were conducted Feb 28 at 2 p.m. in the Letha LDS Ward Chapel, Letha, Idaho. Attending from Star Valley were Melvin Thurman and Bp. and Mrs Stewart Thurman of Grover; Mrs Nellie Campbell of Afton; and Mrs Clifford Turner of Turnerville, Former valley residents included Delos and Lorean Gardner and Earl and Fern Washburn of Clearfield, Utah. Burial was at Emmett, Idaho.
She was born April 19, 1886 at Hyde Park, Utah. Later she moved to Star Valley with her parents. She went to Elmore County, Idaho and operated a relay station at Toll Gate with a sister. She later returned to Star Valley.
She was married to John Cyrus Dewey April 26, 1904, in the Logan LDS Temple. She moved to Emmett in 1906, where she had since resided. Her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, Cecil, Ted and J. Raymond Dewey, all of Emmett Idaho; a granddaughter she raised, Afton Harvey; a brother, Dr. Marion Thurman, Buhl, Idaho; two sisters, Mrs Melissa Reed Inglewood, Calif.; and Mrs Katie O'Keefe, Afton, Wyo.; 13 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
