Rev. Tobias "Tip" John Slaubaugh, 94, died at 7:15 a.m. Sunday April 19, 2009 at Magnolia Extended Care Center, Sarasota. Born Jan. 5, 1915, in Mylo, N.D., he was the son of Simon and Lia (Swart-zentruber) Slaubaugh.

He was pastor of Providence Mennonite Church near Montgomery for 27 years. Before that, he was assistant pastor of Berea Mennonite Church for seven years. He had lived in Sarasota since 1990. He was a member of Bethel Mennonite Church in Sarasota.

Survivors include his wife, whom he married Nov. 25, 1937; daughters, a son-in-law, a sister, and a brother, and eight grandchildren.

A daughter, a son-in-law, and 12 sisters and brothers, are deceased.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Providence Mennonite Church, with Revs. Adin Miller, Shawn Otto, Eddie Graber and Chris Raber officiating.

Burial will be in Providence Cemetery.
