Best, Burl C., age 89 of Maryville, passed away Friday, August 15, 2008, at Colonial Hills Nursing Home.He attended Carpenters United Methodist Church, was retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company after 20 years of service, was a part-time farmer, a veteran of World War II, having served with the U. S. Navy and enjoyed traveling, fishing and camping.

He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Lee Best; parents, Coy and Cora Huffstetler Best; brothers, Truman, Fred, Edgar, Claude, Vern and Lawrence Best; sisters, Mary Coning and Edith Dawson.

Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Mamie Sue Best; sons, Ben C. Best and wife Elizabeth, Roger D. Best and wife Joyce; daughter, Brenda S. Best; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and 3 expected great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special neighbor and niece, Julia Swaney and husband Don.

The family express special thanks to the staff and employees of Blount Memorial Hospital, Colonial Hills Nursing Home and Dr. John Ingram.

Funeral services will be at 8:00 p.m. Saturday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ken Tucker and Rev. Ronnie Blair officiating. The interment will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in Carpenters Campground Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Saturday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carpenters United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 3538 Best Road, Maryville, TN 37803.
