William was the 3rd son of Martha Alsup and Robert S. Hicks. Martha was pregnant with Bill when she left Robert and married John Proctor. She raised Bill with her Proctor children and he went by the name of Proctor. Robert married Margaret Medlock and raised Oliver and Tim with his Hicks children. Oliver, Tim, and Bill loved each other. Oliver and Tim moved to Ok. and Bill stayed in Mo. and they visited through the years.
Bill first married ca 1900 to Julia C. Martin, they had children: Lorn Donaldson 1901, Mentor Guy "Proc" 1903, Macy 1908 Alma, Joel Wesley "Joe" 1911 and Levi Tipton 1915. Julia died in 1915 and Bill married Ida Asoline Hasley Proctor, they had Inez Disey 1920, Ethel Louise 1924, William Terrance "Don" 1927, McUel "Mac" 1930, Clara Beatrice 1932, Billy Ray 1934 and Barbara Jean 1936.
