ELI C. OGLINE, Eldest son of Phillip Ogline Jr. and Elizabeth EMERT-OGLINE's ten (10) children. The OGLINE families of Somerset County were land owners & crop farmers. One of the many grandsons of Phillip & Catherine MILLER-OGLINE and Chritine & Kathryn EMERT all of which were early settlers of Somerset County that lived in forrest log cabins in the area known today as Friedens.

A farmer like his father and six (6) other brothers, Eli volunterred to enlist in the Union Army during the Civil War following his two brothers George and Solomon that both enlisted in 1862, the later died of typhoid fever in Fredericksburg, VA 1863.

Enlisted on Sept 17, 1864 in Harrisburg, Eli served honorably for a one-years service having been mustered into Co. G, 193rd Penna Infantry Reg't until June 20, 1865.

HUSBAND & FATHER: Eli united in marrige with the former Miss Sarah Anna Good, d/o Josiah and Juliann Good on 18 August 1854 in Somerset County. The couple had a TOTAL of SEVEN CHILDREN, 3 before, and 4 after his military service.
