Son of the late William Lewis and Virginia E. Buckolz Barrickman Cornell, he was born on June 26, 1949 in East Liverpool, Ohio.
Bill worked as a truck driver for Dart Trucking.
He served our country during the Viet Nam War as a Staff Sargent and was a member the Chester VFW Post 6450 and Chester American Legion Post 121.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Cornell and two grandchildren.
Surviving him at home is his wife, Diana L. Mason Cornell; four sons, Danny (Alona) Cornell, Billy Jim Cornell, Rocky Lee (Vickie) Cornell, all of Chester and Colby Jay (Sara) Cornell, Wis.; two daughters, Jamie Haught and Brandy Ammon, both of East Liverpool; two brothers, Donald Cornell and George Cornell, of Chester; three sisters, Nancy Vilt, of Chester, Darlene Boggs, of Lisbon and Carol Ann Potts, of New Cumberland; and 12 grandchildren.
Valley Hospice Chaplain George Romage will conduct services at 3 p.m. on today, Thursday, April 16, 2009, at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester. Burial will be in Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will accord military honors.
Friends may visit today, Thursday, April 16, 2009, from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
