Dorothy Gassman, 86, a long-time resident of Ness City, died Saturday, May 5, at the Ness County Hospital.

Born October 21, 1897, at Munjor, she married Vincent Gassman Aug. 7, 1916, at Bazine. He died May 4, 1965.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Christian Mothers, both of Ness City.

She is survived by five sons, Alfred of Montgomery, Minn., Richard W. of Stafford, Ariz., Severin J. of Dighton, Robert of Scranton, and Julius of Manhattan; eight daughters, Mrs. E. L. (Lucille K.) Pfeifer, Hays; Mrs. Paul (Ubertina) Macy, Wichita; Mrs. Frank (Ellenora) Evans, The Dalles, Ore.; Mrs. George (Florence) Mitchell, Blair, Okla.; Mrs. Virginia Lynch, Redlands, Calif.; Mrs. Josephine Cooper, North Platte, Nebr.; Mrs. Lynn (Agnes) Hosman, Great Bend and Mrs. Richard (Louise Leida) Mele, Brandywine, Md.; five sisters, Mary Ann Goatley, Bazine; Mary Eve Fox, Jetmore; Ludwina Simmons, Wichita; Barbara Pfannenstiel, Ness City; and Sarah Kershner, Rozel; three brothers, Carl Sauer of Merced, Calif.; Vincent Sauer, Cimarron, and John Sauer, Bazine; 44 grandchildren and 28 great grand-children.

Rosary was Monday evening and the funeral mass was Tuesday morning at Sacred Heart Church in Ness City with Father Joseph Bahr the celebrant. Burial was in the church cemetery.
