Heart Seizure Takes Ness Man

Vincent Gassman, 71, a resident of Ness county for nearly 50 years, died at the Ness County Hospital here on Tuesday, May 4. He had been hospitalized for two weeks following a heart attack.

Born in Ellis County on January 12, 1894, he came to Ness County when a young man.

He was married to Dorothy Sauer on August 7, at Bazine. The couple had lived here since. He was an employee of the State Highway Department as a maintenance man for many years.

Survivors include: The widow, Mrs. Dorothy Gassman of the home here; eight daughters, Mrs. E. L. (Lucille) Pfeifer of Goleta, Calif., Mrs. Paul (Hubertina) Macy of Wichita, Mrs. Frank (Elnora) Evans of Salem, Ore., Mrs. George (Florence) Mitchell of England, Mrs. Lester (Virginia) Lynch of San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Frank (Josephine) Cooper of Great Bend, Mrs. Lynn (Agnes) Hossman of Great Bend, and Mrs. Richard (Louise) Mele of Suisun City, Calif.; five sons, Alfred Gassman of Montgomery, Minn., Richard Gassman of Phoenix, Ariz., Severin Gassman of Dighton, Robert Gassman of Topeka, and Julius Gassman of Ness City; five sisters, Mrs. Rosie Keberline of Appleton, Wisc., Mrs. Mollie Younger, Mrs. Barbara Younger and Mrs. Sarah Befort, all of Hays, and Mrs. Philomena Bieker of Colorado; one brother, Peter Gassman of Denver, Colo.; 35 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral arrangements had not been completed Wednesday morning, Fitzgerald's announced. The definite date and time of services will be announced following word from distant near relatives.
