This is my father, who was known as "Les" to family members. He was born in Orleans, Nebraska; when he was a teenager, the family moved to Boulder, Colorado, which he afterwards considered his hometown.

He graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado in 1916. He served as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy during WW1.

In 1920 he married Luella Elizabeth Jackson; their only child was Mary Treat Beresford Owens. Dad and Luella divorced in the 1940's.

He later met and married my mother, Jessie "Doris" Hyde (Rounsaville); they were married on January 27, 1949, and remained married until his death.

I am Doris and Les' only child, and I was named for them (Lesley Doris).

He was a super salesman for Reo Motors until forced into retirement by the company that had bought out Reo.

He was musically talented and had a fine singing voice.

While we were living in Austin, Texas, he developed pancreatic cancer, of which he died at the VA Hospital in Temple, Texas. When he died, he was 76; I was 15, and I wish I could have known him better. May he rest in peace!
