Leonard Stingley was the second child of George and Chlora Stingley. In 1810 he married Mary (Hagler) (1791-1865). They were the parents of 11 children. They came to Washington Township in 1842. When Leonard died he was buried in the Groves Cemetery southeast of Guilford-land that he had bought from the U.S. Land Office in Plattsburg in 1844. Mary was buried at Winterset, Iowa near the graves of two-daughters-in-law."
