Of the 18 children of George and Chlora Stingley, Moses was probably the most colorful. (1810-1885), taking an active part in local politics and adding to the growing population, with the help of three wives, Jane Terry, Eliza Moon and Margaret Lynn Gray. One story told of Moses was that when he drove his team of horses to town, he always backed into the hitch-rail and tied his wagon to it-ready for a fast get away. He later moved to the state of Oregon."
