George Westlake Parmenter of Bethany, Nebr., father of Mrs. Stephen J. Epler of Fairfield, Nebr. died at the home of his daughter Dec. 13, 1915, after a brief illness of bronchial pneumonia. Mr. Parmenter was born near Honesdale, Penn., Feb. 16, 1843. Early in his life he moved with his parents to Holmes Co., Ohio. In the late Civil War he served in Company D of the 65th Ohio Infantry Regiment.

He came to Nebr. in 1868 and homesteaded in Saunders Co. where he lived until 1904, when he moved to Bethany, which was his home until his death.

He was married to Ella Ralston in 1868. By this marriage one daughter, Mrs. Mary Walker of Stillwater, Okla., Mrs. (Ella) Parmenter died in 1872. In 1873 he was united in marriage to Lillie Belle Grisham. To this union 3 children were born. Harry C. Parmenter of Yutan, Mrs. Blanche Epler of Fairfield, Nebr. and Mrs. Viola Vorse of Yutan. Besides his wife and children he was survived by his brothers; Alex of Bethany, Nebr., Carey of Ausley, Nebr., Willie of Yutan, Wilson of Denver, Colo, Andrew of Lincoln and Grant of Wann, Nebr. Two sisters; Mrs. Mary Miller of Ashland, Nebr., and Mrs. Phillipi Perrine of Mitchell, Nebr. and sixteen grand children. (Obit 1915, source unknown)
