Lillie Belle Grisham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Colins Grisham was born near Astoria, Ill. Dec. 9, 1855 and died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Blanche Epler of Brooklyn, Iowa, May 30, 1949. She had been ill about two weeks. Her age was 93 years, 5 months and 21 days. She was married to a Civil War veteran Geo. W. Parmenter, Dec. 18, 1873 and they settled on his homestead in Saunders Co., Nebraska. To this union 3 children were born, Claudia Blanche, Harry Collins, and Hettie Viola (see photo). They moved to Bethany, Nebr. in 1904. Mr. Parmenter died Dec. 13, 1915. Mrs. Parmenter was married to John Horn at Alliance, Nebr., Aug. 29, 1920. Mr. Horn passed away in 1930.

She has been a member of the Church of Christ for more than 70 years being baptized by Bro. Yearnshaw. She loved the Lord and was a consistent Tither. She labored hard in her life for her home, community and church. Now she is at rest.

Surviving are her children Harry Parmenter of Yutan, Nebr., and Mrs. Blanche Epler of Brooklyn, Iowa, 10 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren and one sister Mrs. Victoria Housel of Independence, Kansas. Many other relatives and friends. (Obit. 1949)

Lillie Belle Grisham Parmenter Horn was the daughter of Orpha Y. Ralston Grisham and Richard Collins Grisham, originally of Brown County, Ohio.

She was the granddaughter of Joseph Ralston and Eleanor Smith Ralston and of Richard Grisham and Laura Reynolds Grisham, all of Brown County, Ohio.

She was the great-granddaughter of Christian Smith and Elizabeth McDuffy (or McDuffie) Smith of Brown County, Ohio.

She was the sister of Violet Artemicia Grisham, Eugene Grisham, Florence Grisham, Victor Charles Grisham and Victoria Jane Grisham.
