John W. Clear, 52, died at noon on Tuesday at his home in Cambria of acute dilation of the heart. Born in Clinton County, July 3, 1891, he was the son of Cornelias and Mary Jane (Cripe) Clear. He married Azza Bogue on October 13, 1917. He was a member of the First Brethren church in Cambria and was tower watchman of the Monon railroad in Frankfort.

Surviving are the wife, three sons, David, in the overseas Army; Paul, in the Army; and David, of the U. S. Navy; two brothers, George Clear, of Cambria, and Clyde Clear, of Frankfort; five sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Weimer, Mrs. Delia Eikenberry, Mrs. Anna Michael, Mrs. Alice Neher, all of Frankfort, and Mrs. Frances Bible.

Funeral services were held at 10 a. m. on Friday at the Cambria Brethren church. Interment in Pleasant View cemetery.
