Funeral service for Mr. Cecil Lee Bass Sr, 90, of Nacogdoches will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at the Laird Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Allen Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Nacogdoches. Mr. Bass died Friday, April 3, 2009 in Nacogdoches. He was born May 23, 1918 in Nacogdoches, the son of the late David and Ruth Charlton Bass. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Nacogdoches, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a teacher for the Texas Department of Corrections. He is survived by his wife, Audie Mae Bulher Cecil; daughters, Joanne Robertson of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Judy M. Shields of St. Charles, Ill.; son, Lee Bass of Nacogdoches; brother, Howard Bass of Nacogdoches; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2009 at Laird Funeral Home.
