"Dayton--Viola L. Smithart, 88, Boone, formerly of Dayton, died Monday. July 10, 2000, at Ledges Manor, Boone.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Dayton, with the Rev. Julian Swanson officiating. Burial will be in Callender Cemetery, Callender. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Carson Funeral Home, Dayton.
Survivors include sons, Merritt J. "Jack" Weston and Gary Weston, both of Las Vegas, Nev., daughter Patricia M. Miller, Boone; Stepson Norman Smithart, Seattle, Wash; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by parents John and Signe Carlson Bloomquist, husbands Merritt Weston, Fay Arnott, and Leon Smithart, and brothers Victor, Conrad and Einar Bloomquist.
Viola L. Bloomquist was born April 13, 1912 on a farm near Callender. She graduated from Harcourt High School in 1929. She married Merritt Weston in 1931 at Boone. The couple later divorced. She married Fay Arnott in 1945 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, and he died four years later in 1949. She continued living in Boone until 1952. She married Leon Smithart in 1952 at Des Moines. The couple lived in Wellsburg for two years before moving to Dayton in 1970. He died in 1989. She remained in Dayton until becoming a resident of Ledges Manor in 1998.
She was a member of Dayton County Club."
