William (Bill) was born in Exeter, Nebraska to Nicklaus and Barbara Dumpert Becker. He moved to Muenster with his family in 1895. His father died when he was 12 years old and he and his brothers and sisters helped his mother hold on to their farm. When he was 30 he married his sweetheart Elizabeth Knabe. He became the father of three children: Werner, Martin, and Marie. Bill and Elizabeth enjoyed more than sixty years together before he passed away.
