Julius Chambers, age 85, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away September 22, 2000 at his home. Mr. Chambers was born in Union County, Georgia, July 12, 1915, a son of the late William T. Chambers and Rozielie Lowe Chambers. 

He was a U.S. Army Veteran and served during World War II.  Mr. Chambers was a lifelong resident of this area and was a manager for Nottley Orchards for over 40 years.  He also was employed as a school bus driver for 18 years.  Mr. Chambers was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was also a member of young Cane Masonic Lodge #597 for 64 years, where he was a Past Master and Director of Work for many years. 

He was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers. Surviving are his wife Edith Denton Chambers of Blairsville; sons and daughters-in-law Kermit and Margie Chambers and Larry and Johanna Chambers, all of Blairsville; sisters Grace Stanislawski of Dearborn, Michigan, Betty Gray of Blairsville, Connie Akins of Maryville, TN; and brother Vernon Chambers of Blairsville; grandchildre, Kirk Chambers, Doug Chambers, Angie Dills, Tyson Chambers, Kevin Chambers, and Vanna Chambers; great grandchildren Payton Chambers and Laken Chambers also survive.

Funeral services were held in the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev. Brent Chatham and Rev. Wofford Kelley officiating.  Special music was presented by ken and Elaine Young.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers:  Kirk Chambers, Doug Chambers, Tyson Chambers, David Abercrombie, and Aaron Dills.  Interment was in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery. Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville in charge of arrangements.
