Mrs. Martha Russel, long-time resident of Bushnell, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. "Lon" Eckert south of Vickeryville Wednesday.

Besides Mrs. Eckert, she leaves two other daughters, Mrs. Rhoda Umphenhour and Mrs. Grace Fillmore and a son, John Russel, of Bushnell. Mrs. Cyrena Graham of Palo is a sister.

Funeral services for Mrs. Russel to be held at the Quarterline church in Bushnell. Burial in Palo cemcetery Friday afternoon.

Martha M. Hayes was born in Seneca County, Ohio on June 12th, 1840. She remained whit her parents until 17 years of age when she was united in marriage to Wm. R. Russell and then moved to Williams County and lived there until 1873 when they moved to Bushnell Township, Montcalm County, Michigan, where she resided until she passed to the great beyond.

She was the mother of eight children, four dying in infancy and four survive her, Mrs. Rhoda Umbenhaur,, John H. Russell, Mrs. Cyrena Eckert of Vickeryville, and Mrs. Grace Filmore of Ionia; five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Sylvesta Arntz Sr., of Sheridan; Mrs. Cyrena Graham of Palo and Mrs. Dora Huyck of Butternut, and a host of friends to mourn her loss.

Mrs. Russell has been in very poor health for a number of years though a patient sufferer and death overtook her on the morning of July 25th, 1923, at the age of 88 years, 1 month, 13 days. She was a faithful member of the United Brethren Church since a child and was always anxious to help the work of the Lord.
