First husband of Flora J. (Joyner) McVay Baggs (1865-1933). Son of Robert West McVay and Eliza Jane (Hamlin) McVay. Lieut. McVay was an assistant surgeon in the US Army. He had been stationed at Fort Mackinanc, Michigan and San Carlos, Arizona Territory before being sent to the Phillipines. Harlan and Flora had one daughter, Jessie McVay, who was born in 1890.
