Orangeburg - Bennie Palmer Davis, 70, died Tuesday at his home on Edisto Drive. The funeral will be 3 PM on Thursday at the Thompson Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in the Crestlawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Davis was born in Orangeburg County, a son of the late Edward and Mary McMichael Davis. He was a member of Rivelon Baptist Church, the found of the Davis Iron and Metal Co. and a Mason. Surviving are his widow: Mrs. Louise McMichael Davis of Orangeburg, five daughters, Mrs Leslie Jeffcoat, Mrs. Jacob Bair Jr. and Mrs. Norman Tager, all of Orangeburg, Mrs. Mary Smoak of Charleston and Mrs. Dick Jackson of Fresno, Calif.; a son, Vernon Davis of Orangeburg; two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Brunson of Cope and Mrs. Jake Altman of Orangeburg; a brother, Albert Davis of Orangeburg; two stepdaughters, Mrs. David Ellis of Orangeburg and Mrs. Herbert Carson of North; 35 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. © The News and Courier, Charleston, SC, 23 Jun 1971
