Homer is one of the three sons of John Thomas Provence ( also known as J.T. Provence) and Lollie Mae Fraley (Provence and Marshall ). Granny Lollie married her 2nd husband George Marshall after her first husband John Thomas (J.T. ) Provence died. Both of Homers parents , his two brothers
and a step sister Shirley Francis Marshall ( Crosley and Willingham) are all buried in the Burkburnett Texas cemetery. The brothers are Hubert Monroe Provence and Arthur Duain Provence. Homer lived most of his younger life in Burkburnett Texas and for a short period of time was the Chief of Police of Burkburnett Texas (in the early 1960's). He was married twice his first wife was Mary Agnes Grierson who died in 1955 and is buried in the Burkburnett Texas cemetery. Homer and Agnes had no children together but they did adopt a son when he was a newborn baby at the Wichita Falls General hospital in Wichita Falls Texas and they named him George Duain Provence ( George and I were best friends and cousins as kids together in Burk and played together all the time) Aunt Agnes as we called her died from cancer in Burkburnett Texas and is buried in the Burkburnett Texas cemetery. I remember Aunt Agnes as a really really nice Aunt and mother to her son George. Uncle Homer got remarried in a few years and this wifes name was ( his second wife) Alice "Allie" May Reno who he married in 1957 (Allie died in 2000 in Holdenville, Hughes County Oklahoma). Uncle Homer and Allie May had 5 children together but only the following three children lived to be adults , 1 son (Coy) and two daughters (Debbie and Charlene), they also had two daughters that died as young babies and are buried in Oklahoma. Uncle Homer and Allie May are buried next to each other but as of 1998 their graves in Oklahoma did not have a permanent Tombstone except for a Veterans headstone with Homers name on it for his military service in the coast guard during WW 2.Besides the V.A. marker their grave was only marked with small laminated paper markers with their names on it that was supplied by the funeral home that did their burials. I'm quite sure that laminated marker has worn away by now.
