Ivan Booton, 68

Funeral services for Ivan Kenneth Booton, 68, were held Monday, Aug. 10, at 2 p.m. at the Donovan-Leyson Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Ivan passed away Aug. 7, 1981, at the Lake Park Care Center in Lake Park, Iowa. Rev. Earle Harvey officiated the services.
Ivan Kenneth Booton was born to Florence and Albertus Booton at Spirit Lake on May 16, 1913. He attended school at Spirit Lake. On March 16, 1949, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Olive Hazard at Jackson, Minn.
During his lifetime Ivan was employed in the floor covering business, working for Lundstrom Furniture in Spirit Lake, Kennedy Furniture in Belmond, Iowa, and Twetten Furniture in Spencer. He owned and operated the Corner Café in Spirit Lake and the Recreation Center in Spirit Lake. Ivan retired in 1970.
He served as a sergeant in the Army during World War II for three years and served one year during the Korean War. Ivan was a member of the United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake.
Ivan is survived by his wife, Olive, one stepdaughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest (Jane) Gath, one grandson, Daniel Gath and his wife, Cindy, two brothers, Les and Willis Booton of Spirit Lake, and two sisters, Marjorie Lamb of Odessa, Texas, and Iola Harris of Chula Vista, Calif.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters, and his parents.
Wilma Clauson was organist for the funeral service. Hymns performed were "How Great Thou Art" and "In the Garden." Pallbearers were Robert Pulver, Joe Gamble, Bruce Johnson, Harvey Bryan, Dennis Karl and Herb Boehm.
Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery in Spirit Lake. Military graveside rites were given by the Spirit Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 4514.
Donovan-Leyson Funeral Home of Spirit Lake was in charge of arrangements.
