Funeral services for Willis Booton, 79 of Spirit Lake were held Monday, July 18, 1983, 2 pm at the United Methodist Church, in Spirit Lake, with Rev. Paige officiating. Booton died Thursday, July 14, 1983, at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.

Deanna Kulper, organist, accomanied the vocalist, Bob Cosens, as he sang, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere: and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus:. Pallbearers were Mike Lenz, Jery Lenz, Dan Fisher, David Fisher, Keith Clark, and Butch Leek. Interment was in the Lakeland Memory Gardens, in Spirit Lake.

Willis Booton was born Aug. 16, 1903 in Coon Rapids, Iowa to Alburtus and Florence Dean Booton. The family moved to Spirit Lake about 1911 where Booton attended school.

On August 16, 1956, Booton married Mary E. Leek at Spirit Lake. The couple resided in Spirit Lake after their marriage. Booton worked as a chef in various places in Iowa. He was also the owner and operator of Boots Cake in Spirit Lake, retiring in 1968. Booton was a member of the United Methodist Church of Spirit Lake.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, of Spirit Lake, Children, Darlene Doss of Huntington Beach Calif., Laverne Leek of Spirit Lake; Faye Stiner of Topeka, Kan., Marilyn Lenz, of Spirit Lake; Genevieve Blair, of Oklahoma CIty, Okla.; Vivian Fisher, of Sious Valley; Minn., and Gerald Leek, of Spirit Lake; 21 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one brother Leslie Booton of Spirit Lake; and one sister, Iola Harris, of Chula Vista, Calif.

He was proceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and five brothers.

The Donovan-Leyson Funeral Home in Spirit Lake was in charge of arrangements.
