OBITUARY
Isaac Marion Wooden, son of Jefferson and Laura Ann Wooden, was born in Carroll County, Mo. on February 18, 1873. He departed this life on Saturday morning, December 12, 1936, aged 63 years, 9 months and 24 days. Death was due to injuries received in a car accident on Tuesday morning, December 8, 1936.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, six sisters, two brothers and two children.
He was united in marriage to Louvenia Burner in 1893. Four children werer born to them. One son Isaac Clemia died in infancy.
On October 5, 1921 he was united in marriage with Lizzie Kelly. They had three children, one son, Raymond Harold, died in infancy.
Dr. Wooden’s education was begun at the Wooden school. Later he attended the Chillicothe Business College. He then taught two terms of school, one at Rea School and one at Frazell.
After a four year course he was graduated from St. Joseph School of Medicine in 1900. He first located for the practice of his profession in Quote, Mo. Later he was located at Plymouth, Mandeville and Dawn, Mo. About 16 years ago he came to Bogard. He continued here until in September 1935 he moved to Chillicothe, Mo. where he has since lived.
Besides his wife, Mrs. Lizzie Wooden, he leaves to mourn his loss three sons and two daughters. They are: Noland Wooden, William Wooden, and Mrs. Pauline Rulan, all of Shenandoah, Iowa, and Johnie and Janie Bell of the home. There are also two brothers, William Wooden and Cleve Wooden; four grandchildren and a wide circle of other relatives and friends.
He was for many years a member of the Odd Fellows, Royal Neighbors and Woodman Fraternities. He was one time a member of the C.P. Church of Coloma, several years ago transfering his membership to the M.E. Church south of Bogard. In all these circles he was acceptable as one of the fellowship. He was highly esteemed by all his friends by whom he will be sadly missed.
A precious one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is stilled,
A place is vacant in our home,
Which can never be filled.
Funeral services were conducted by the Paster, Rev. A.W. Darter, at the M.E. Church at Bogard, Sunday at 3:30 P.M. in the presence of more than 600 relatives and friends who gathered to pay final tribute to his unselfish services thru the many years. Rev. L.B. Hargrove, the Baptist Pastor, assisted in the services. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, South of Bogard, Missouri.
