Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Beaver Valley U.B. Church with Rev. G.O. Neff officiating, for George I. Gates, 62, who died Saturday morning after an extended illness. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Fannie (Pershing) Gates, two daughters, Mrs. Tilitha Byer and Marie Gates, two sons Francis and George Gates, one grandson, one sister, Mr. W. W. Hegarty of Coalport and one brother, Edward Gates of Hollidaysburg. Burial was made in the church cemetery. (The Progress, January 13, 1938)
