Mrs Mattie Speak Dies Sunday Afternoon
Mrs Mattie Langston Speak, wife of Jesse Speak died at her home near Gorby, Sunday afternoon, March 4th. She had been in failing health since she suffered a stroke four years ago. She suffered a second stroke about three weeks ago.
Mrs Speak spent her entire life in this vicinity. She was a devout Christian, being a member of the Methodist church.
Besides her husband, she is survived by four brothers, Henry and Van Langston of Calico Rock, Wiley Langston of Forty-Four and Robert Langston of Brockwell and two sisters, Misses Polly and Nannie Langston of Calico Rock.
Funeral services, in charge of Rev. J. C. Wilcox, were held Monday afternoon. Interment was in Flat Rock Cemetery.
