Born in Round Bay, Shelburne County, Violetta was the daughter of the late Makaska and Annie (Perry) Hagar.
Mrs. Nix was a member of Trinity United Church and lived in Waltham, Massachusetts for six years, Annapolis Valley for 11 years, and New Glasgow for the past 45 years. While in Massachusetts, she worked at the Waltham Watch factory where she met her husband.
Surviving besides her husband, Walter (as she called him), are two sons, Gardner of Bible Hill, Nova Scotia, Harding, Claremont, New Hampshire, four grandchildren - Judith, James and Charles of New Hampshire, and Cathy of Nova Scotia. Also surviving is a brother, Glen Hagar of Round Bay.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Clyde, Orison, and William, and a sister, Oleta.
