Bertha Martina Goens, 94, of Conway, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2009. Born in Victoria, KS she was a daughter to the late Fidelis and Clara Graf. Bertha was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Conway, where she was a member of the Christian Ladies, the Cursillo Prayer and the Perpetual Adoration Groups. Bertha was a Foster Grandparent for over 25 years at C.H.D.C. and a recipient of a 2007 Community Service Award. Her husband of twenty-three years, Paul R. Goens, two sisters, Mina Walters, Henritta Stabb, seven brothers, Ralph Graf, Gilbert Graf, Al Graf, Arthur Graf, Leroy Graf and infant Earnest Graf and one grandchild also preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughters, Lois Halter and husband Ernest, Jr. of Huntsville, AL, Mary Ann Palmer and husband Bob of Rome, GA, Kathy Barrett and husband Delbert of Conway, AR, Paula Ferguson and husband Bill of Cabot, AR and Juliet Diley and husband Vince of Brandon, MS, fourteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, sisters Ellie Dell and Armella Gerber and a brother Gilbert Graf and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The family wishes to send special thanks to all of Bertha's friends from the Faulkner County Day School, for coming to visit and share their love, for she considered them her extended family. Special thanks also to the nurses in the Critical Care Unit at Conway Regional Medical Center for their patience and care.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, March 16, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Conway, with Rev. George Spangenberg officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. A wake service will be held at 5:00 p.m., on Sunday, March 15, at Roller McNutt Funeral home in Conway, with family visitation to follow. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial be made to the St. Joseph Endowment Fund.
